The Starbucks Secret Menu

starbucks-logo-banner-small-fans1Standing in line today the women in front of me asked the barista if she could order something from the “secret menu”. My ears peaked up, did I just hear something about a secret menu. Seems I was not the only one that didn’t know about because the Barista had to ask his co-worker what the secret menu was. Believe it or not only one girl knew what it was and started the drink. Boy was I now the curious one.

Once in front of my computer I searched Starbucks secret menu. There it was an entire website dedicated to the Starbucks secret menu. Starbuckssecretmenu.com, tagline created for Starbucks fans by Starbucks fans. Scrolling down to the footer of the site is the following disclaimer:

Searching the site revealed why the Barista at my local Starbucks didn’t know about it. The site claims that not all Baristas know about the secret menu and you cannot order the drink by name alone. You have to bring the recipe with you. Each drink on the secret menu shows a recipe so it’s pretty easy to get that info. Some of the drinks look pretty interesting as well such as Liquid Cocaine which is 4 shots of espresso and 4 pumps of white chocolate syrup over ice in a grande cold cup. Another one is the Raspberry Caramel Macchiato has the same makeup as a regular Caramel Macchiato, but subs raspberry syrup for the vanilla syrup found on the bottom of the drink.

Here is a selection of some more drinks

The Nutella

Cafe Misto with a pump of chocolate syrup, hazelnut syrup and a drop of caramel drizzle for a  deliciously sweet drink best served as dessert.

The Undertow

3 pumps of your favorite syrup (vanilla suggested) in a tall cup with a splash of milk and two shots of espresso floating on top. The idea is to drink it quickly so you get the kick of espresso first, then the cool milk and syrup through the middle.

Dirty Chai

Ask to have a shot of espresso blended in for that extra kick.

Samoa Cookie Frappuccino

Mocha Coconut Frappuccino with 2 pumps of caramel syrup then ask for extra coconut flakes to be blended into the drink

Nutella Frappuccino

Regular coffee frappuccino, 2 pumps of mocha syrup, 1 pump of hazelnut syrup, whipped cream blended in. Top with whipped cream! Caramel drizzle is optional.

There are hundreds more of these really cool sounding drinks. Visit the site today and remember to bring the recipe with you.
